Pune, 23 July 2025: Good Luck Café, a well-known name among food lovers in Pune, has once again found itself mired in controversy. Just days after a shard of glass was discovered in a Bun Maska at its Fergusson Road branch, a new complaint has surfaced, this time at the café’s outlet on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

A customer who ordered Egg Bhurji at the expressway location allegedly found a dead cockroach in the dish. He later posted photos of the food and receipt on social media, triggering public outrage and renewed concerns about the hygiene standards maintained by the popular chain.

This is the second alarming complaint involving the café within a span of weeks. Earlier this month, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had temporarily suspended the license of the Fergusson Road outlet after the glass shard incident.

An inspection at the time revealed poor hygiene practices, including unfit staff, damaged kitchen infrastructure, stagnant water, unclean storage, and uncovered garbage bins both inside and outside the premises.

Although that outlet was allowed to reopen after rectifying the listed issues, this fresh episode at a different branch has reignited public distrust. Many patrons are now questioning the brand’s overall food safety protocols and are urging authorities to impose tighter surveillance on all outlets operating under the same name.

FDA officials are expected to conduct a detailed investigation into the latest complaint before determining further action against the café.
