Due to more than 50 mm of rainfall near the Khadakwasla dam, authorities are increasing the water release into the Mutha river. The discharge, which was 2,968 cusecs on Sunday night, will rise to 10,611 cusecs by Monday morning. Citizens have been urged to stay away from the river and remove any vehicles parked close to the riverbed.

Several schools in Pune announced a morning holiday to ensure the safety of students. Low-lying areas are on alert as the heavy rain may cause waterlogging and local flooding in some parts of the city.

The IMD has also predicted thunderstorms and heavy rain in Ahmednagar, Beed and Solapur. Residents in these areas are advised to stay indoors during intense spells of rain and follow safety instructions issued by local authorities.
