According to the Pune Police, the incident took place at a popular hotel in the Hadapsar area. The victim, a young woman, reportedly noticed something unusual while using the restroom. On closer inspection, she discovered a small, concealed camera positioned to capture footage inside the toilet. Horrified, she immediately alerted the hotel management and called the police.

Police arrived at the scene and, after a swift investigation, identified a hotel staff member as the primary suspect. The accused was promptly arrested, and the hidden camera as well as storage devices were seized as evidence.

The Pune Police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the case. They are currently examining the footage recovered from the device to determine whether similar incidents have occurred in the past and if any footage has been shared or uploaded online.

A senior police official stated, “We are taking this matter very seriously. The safety and privacy of citizens, especially women, is our top priority. We are checking all possible angles, including whether the accused acted alone or if others were involved.”

The accused has been charged under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology Act related to privacy violation, voyeurism, and unauthorized recording.

Local hotel associations have responded by pledging to conduct immediate safety audits, install better surveillance in common areas (not private spaces), and train staff to respect guest privacy. “This is a wake-up call for the entire hospitality industry. We must ensure such incidents never happen again,” said a spokesperson for the Pune Hotel Owners Association.

The Pune Police have assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway and that the victim’s identity and privacy will be protected at all costs. They have also urged anyone with information related to similar incidents to come forward.
