The release, which stood at 11,878 cusecs in the morning, will be increased to around 15,442 cusecs by 2 pm. Officials added that the discharge may be adjusted further depending on rainfall and the inflow into the reservoir.

By 3 pm, the flow into the river is expected to reach nearly 19,334 cusecs. As a result, water levels in the Mutha river through Pune are rising rapidly.

Mohan Bhadane, Sub-Divisional Engineer of the Mutha Canal Irrigation Sub-Division in Swargate, said citizens must remain vigilant. People living on the riverbanks and low-lying areas have been advised to take necessary precautions in view of the fluctuating discharge levels.
