Pune: The Crime Branch’s Unit 2 conducted a major operation in Koregaon Park, raiding two shops for selling counterfeit clothing and accessories under the guise of reputed international brands.
Goods worth ₹35.31 lakhs were confiscated, and cases have been registered against three individuals involved.
The action was initiated following a complaint by Mahesh Vishnu Kamble, a representative of the affected brands, who reported that shops in Koregaon Park were selling fake goods bearing trademarks of Lacoste, Under Armour, Polo, Gant, and Nike.
The Crime Branch verified the claims and identified InCloth Stores on North Road and Denova Cloth Stores on Main Road as key locations involved in selling counterfeit items.
Raids and Seizure
The raids revealed that these shops were using fake labels and logos to sell counterfeit T-shirts, hoodies, shirts, bags, underwear, and socks.
The goods closely mimicked the appearance of authentic branded products, misleading customers. Goods worth ₹35.31 lakhs were seized during the operation.
Legal Action
Cases have been filed against Poma Jitendra Sharma, manager Sonu Ram Lokandan, and Monish Lilaaram Akhtarai under the Copyright Act. The investigation is ongoing, and further legal actions are being pursued.
The operation was executed under the supervision of Additional Police Commissioner Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner Nikhil Pingale, and Assistant Commissioner Ganesh Ingle. A team of officers, led by Inspector Pratap Mankar, ensured the successful execution of the raids.
