Pune: A horrifying incident took place in Bhavani Nagar, where a group of five students brutally attacked two fellow students with machetes inside a temple. The victims, Sanchit Gholave and Sujal Jadhav, were seriously injured and are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Baramati.
On Friday, January 31, at approximately 11:30 AM, Sanchit Gholave and Sujal Jadhav were sitting inside the Bhavani Mata Temple in Bhavani Nagar, chatting with their friends. Suddenly, a group of five students—Adnan Shaikh, Piyush Chavan, Yashraj Arwade, and two minors—entered the temple.
Initially, the attackers started physically assaulting Sujal and Sanchit with kicks and punches. However, the violence quickly escalated as they pulled out machetes and launched a frenzied attack on the victims.
Both students collapsed, bleeding heavily, while the attackers fled the scene. The victims were immediately rushed to a private hospital in Baramati, where doctors confirmed that Sujal Jadhav had sustained severe head injuries and was in critical condition.
Shockingly, while the victims were being treated, both groups continued to threaten each other over phone calls, with messages like "Now we will kill you" surfacing.
As soon as the Walchandnagar Police were alerted about the attack, they rushed to the crime scene and began tracking the suspects. After the attack, the five accused attempted to flee towards Pune, but the police formed two teams and launched a dramatic high-speed chase. The police successfully arrested all five suspects in Supa Police Station limits.
According to initial investigations, the violent attack stemmed from a dispute over a love affair. On Thursday, January 30, an argument had taken place between the victims and the attackers regarding a romantic relationship. Though the issue was apparently settled, the next day, the attackers carried out the violent assault.
