Pune: A 1,200 mm diameter water pipeline supplying key areas in Sadashiv Peth and Shivajinagar burst again at Dandekar Bridge, resulting in the wastage of millions of liters of water. The incident, which occurred late at night, caused panic among residents, severe traffic congestion, and road damage.

This marks the second pipeline burst in the same area within just two days. The pipeline, which carries water from the Parvati Water Treatment Plant to Deccan, Apte Road, Gokhale Road, Jangli Maharaj Road, and Model Colony, burst around 9:30 PM on the road from Dandekar Bridge to Swargate.

The sudden rupture led to high-pressure water gushing onto the roads, disrupting vehicular movement and flooding nearby residential areas. Officials quickly shut down the water supply from the Parvati Water Treatment Plant, but significant amounts of water continued to flow onto the streets for a considerable time.

Speaking on the incident, Nandkishor Jagtap, head of the Water Supply Department, said, "A water pipeline has burst at Dandekar Bridge, and just days ago, another rupture occurred at the same location. The water pressure is being maintained at normal levels, so we will investigate the cause of these repeated failures.

The water supply to Sadashiv Peth and Shivajinagar will be disrupted. However, we are working on an emergency basis and expect to complete repairs by tomorrow morning."
