Pune News: 29 Criminals Externed from Pune Ahead of Ganeshotsav

Police tighten surveillance across Yerwada, Baner, Kharadi, Wagholi, Chandannagar, and Katraj

  1. Ahead of Ganeshotsav, Pune Police have externed 29 criminals to maintain law and order.

  2. Of these, 26 were from Zone 4 areas including Yerwada, Baner, Kharadi, Wagholi, and Chandannagar, while 3 were from Katraj in Zone 2.

  3. Police are monitoring over 100 more repeat offenders, and warned that externed persons re-entering Pune will face strict action.

Pune, 27 August 2025: To ensure law and order during the upcoming Ganeshotsav, Pune Police have externed 29 known criminals from the city and district. The action comes as large crowds are expected across Pune for the festival.

Zone 4 Deputy Commissioner of Police Somay Munde passed orders against 26 repeat offenders from areas such as Baner, Yerwada, Chandannagar, Kharadi, Wagholi, Lonikand, and surrounding localities. Meanwhile, Zone 2 DCP Milind Mohite ordered externment of three offenders from Katraj.

Senior police officials said they are closely monitoring the activities of more than 100 habitual criminals in Zone 4, and preventive action will be taken against them soon. Citizens have been urged to immediately inform the nearest police station if any externed criminal is spotted returning to the city.

The three from Katraj, Abhay alias Sonya Nisangandh (20), Vinod Dharti Magar (22), and Prathamesh alias Abhay Kudle (21), have been externed from Pune city and district for two years. Police said the proposals for action were prepared by Ambegaon Police Station officials.

Authorities stressed that these measures are crucial to maintain peace and public safety in Pune during the festival season.
