Pune News: Collector Declares Dry Day During Ganeshotsav

Liquor shops ordered shut on arrival, immersion, and key procession days

Pune, 25 August 2025: In view of Ganeshotsav celebrations, the Pune District Collector has announced that the arrival and immersion days of Lord Ganesha will be observed as dry days across the district. The decision comes as part of measures to ensure law and order during the festival.

Between August 27 and September 6, liquor shops falling under the limits of Khadak, Vishrambaug, and Faraskhana police stations in Pune city have been ordered to remain shut. Authorities have issued strict instructions to vendors, warning of action against those who fail to comply.

Additionally, shops located along the routes of Ganpati immersion processions on the fifth and seventh day of the festival will also remain closed. Officials emphasized that the restrictions are aimed at maintaining peace and smooth conduct of the festivities.
