Shopkeepers on Somnathnagar Road and the stretch from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue to the vegetable market in Vadgaon Sheri had extended their premises with tin sheds and permanent structures. Customers’ vehicles parked outside further blocked the road, leading to regular traffic jams and inconvenience for residents.

The demolition was carried out under the supervision of Executive Engineer Suresh Sakhale, Deputy Engineer Prashant Mahindrakar, Junior Engineer Bhushan Kokate, draftsman Yogesh Gurav, regional encroachment inspector Subhash Talekar, encroachment inspectors Raju Londhe, and assistant inspectors Nitin Khairnar, Sanket Gangurde, and Karan Pawale.

Speaking about the operation, junior engineer Bhushan Kokate said that some property owners tend to rebuild after demolitions. He warned that if re-encroachment occurs, fresh action will be taken. Notices have already been issued to several illegal structures, and further demolitions are planned.
