Pune, 10 September 2025: Motorists in the city have an opportunity to clear their pending traffic fines at discounted rates during the upcoming National Lok Adalat. The Lok Adalat will allow citizens to settle e-challans issued for traffic violations such as riding without a helmet, driving without a seatbelt, signal jumping, speeding, using a mobile phone while driving, or parking in prohibited areas. By paying during this period, motorists can get maximum relief on fines and close their pending cases.

Officials clarified that serious violations will not qualify for concessions. These include drunk driving, hit-and-run cases, reckless driving leading to fatal accidents, underage driving, illegal racing, use of vehicles for crimes, and cases already under trial in court. Challans issued outside Maharashtra will also not be covered.

District Judge Mahendra Mahajan, who heads the Legal Services Authority, said the initiative will give citizens a convenient way to become “fine-free” while promoting awareness about traffic discipline. Secretary Judge Sonal Patil added that the effort is aimed at resolving a large number of pending challans through compromise and creating better compliance on Pune’s roads.

Citizens can pay their dues at the Yerwada Traffic Branch office between 10 am and 5 pm from September 10 to 13.
