Pune, 22 August 2025: Pune witnessed a dramatic scene on Thursday afternoon after a skeleton was spotted lying in the middle of the road at Shastrinagar Chowk, one of the busiest traffic points in Yerwada. The location, barely 100 meters from the Yerwada Police Station, caused alarm among passersby and triggered an immediate police response.
At first glance, the skeleton appeared real, consisting of a skull, torso, and pelvic bones. Due to heavy traffic, several vehicles even ran over it before people noticed. Concerned citizens quickly alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and took the skeleton into custody.
Upon closer inspection, officers discovered that it was not human remains but an artificial skeleton made of Plaster of Paris and wires, likely meant for educational use. The relief was evident once the truth came to light.
A police official said the skeleton was most probably discarded, but the reason behind its presence on the busy road is still being investigated.
