Pune: Saam TV has reported a shocking case of fuel adulteration. A petrol pump in Shahunagar, Pimpri-Chinchwad was found dispensing 80 per cent water mixed with petrol, causing multiple vehicles to break down shortly after refueling. The Bhosale Petrol Pump of Hindustan Petroleum is at the center of this controversy, raising concerns over fuel quality standards and consumer safety.

Vehicles Stopped Midway After Refueling

Several motorists reported that their two-wheelers and four-wheelers stalled on the road after filling fuel from this petrol pump. Even those who had filled just one or two liters of fuel experienced engine failure.

Upon suspicion, some customers decided to drain their fuel tanks, only to be shocked by the discovery: the liquid was mostly water with a small amount of petrol floating on top. The contamination ratio was reportedly as high as 80% water and 20% petrol.

Possible Cause: Poor Maintenance of Fuel Tanks

Experts believe that improper maintenance of underground fuel tanks could have led to this situation. It is suspected that water seeped into the storage tanks, which then mixed with petrol and was unknowingly supplied to customers. However, officials are yet to confirm whether this was an accident or an intentional act of fuel adulteration.

Consumers have demanded an immediate investigation into the incident, urging strict action against those responsible. Authorities are expected to inspect the fuel storage system at the petrol station and take necessary legal action.
