Pune: PMC Commissioner Faces Mounting Complaints as Citizens Seek Direct Resolution

Sheer volume of complaints has led to frustration, with some individuals lodging multiple grievances, including one citizen who filed over 25 complaints without any resolution.

Pune: The absence of municipal corporators due to the lack of elections has left many citizens with no option but to approach the Pune Municipal Commissioner directly with their daily grievances.

Despite efforts to set up a grievance redressal cell in the Commissioner’s office, citizens continue to face delays, with many of their complaints remaining unresolved.

With the current municipal system lacking elected representatives, citizens seeking to resolve their daily issues have been left frustrated by the unresponsiveness of municipal department heads. As a result, many have begun visiting the Commissioner’s office directly.

In response to the growing number of complaints, the Commissioner appointed a Deputy Commissioner to oversee the grievance cell and set up designated complaint days on Mondays and Thursdays.

However, despite this initiative, citizens have reported that their issues continue to go unaddressed, with many still receiving no action after their complaints are registered.

The situation has worsened to the point where the Commissioner himself has had to dedicate six days a week to meeting with citizens. The sheer volume of complaints has led to further frustration, with some individuals lodging multiple grievances, including one citizen who filed over 25 complaints without any resolution.

To address the ongoing issue, the Commissioner has now issued direct instructions to department heads, urging them to resolve complaints within eight days and provide detailed responses to complainants.

The directive also includes a daily review of complaints, a verification process for complaints being forwarded, and a requirement to inform the grievance cell once an issue has been resolved.

Despite these measures, citizens continue to face delays, with many still forced to take their grievances to the Commissioner in person.
