Pune: A bus conductor employed at PMPML (Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited) has been booked for stalking, harassing, and making obscene gestures at a woman near Pune Station bus depot.
The accused, identified as Sunil Dhondibhau Bhalekar (44), a resident of Charholi Phata, has been arrested following a complaint by a 33-year-old woman at Samarth Police Station.
The incident took place at a hotel in Somwar Peth on February 22, when Bhalekar allegedly followed the victim, made obscene gestures, and threatened her, saying, "Let’s see how you file a case against me."
According to police reports, the accused had a history of harassment towards the woman. In August 2023, she had filed a molestation complaint against him, after which Bhalekar allegedly assaulted her to force her to withdraw the complaint.
The case was then registered as a non-cognizable offense at Bund Garden Police Station, and he was subsequently transferred to the N.T. Wadi Depot following an internal inquiry.
Recently, the woman had approached Bund Garden Police Station again to report harassment by her depot manager. On the day of the incident, she was at the station for questioning and later went to a hotel for a meal. Bhalekar allegedly followed her, leading to the latest complaint.
The Samarth Police have confirmed that they have arrested the accused and registered a case under relevant sections of the law. Further investigation is underway.
