Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) recorded its highest-ever single-day revenue of ₹2.61 crore on Raksha Bandhan.
Over 14 lakh passengers travelled on 1,994 buses, boosted by extra services and recently added CNG buses.
Increased ticket fares since June contributed significantly to the revenue jump.
Pune, 11 August 2025: On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) achieved its highest-ever daily revenue, collecting ₹2.61 crore on Saturday, August 9. The figure surpasses last year’s Raksha Bandhan earnings by ₹72.08 lakh, helped by increased passenger numbers and higher ticket fares introduced from June 1.
The festival typically sees more people opting for buses instead of private vehicles. To meet the surge, PMPML deployed 1,994 buses across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) area. The inclusion of additional CNG buses from contractors made it possible to operate more services than last year.
On the day, over 14 lakh passengers used PMPML services, compared to an average of about 12 lakh on regular days. Daily revenue usually hovers around ₹2.34 crore, but Saturday’s figure broke past the ₹2.5 crore mark for the first time in PMPML’s history.
PMPML Chairman and Managing Director Pankaj Deore credited the achievement to public trust and the efforts of bus drivers, conductors, and staff. Chief Transport Manager Satish Gawhane noted that the special arrangements for the festival and the increased fleet were key factors in reaching this milestone.
