Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar issued a stern warning to individuals involved in illegal activities such as extortion, gang operations, and land grabbing. He advised such individuals to leave the city immediately, cautioning, “If you fail to comply, we will ensure you remember your past seven generations.”

The Commissioner was speaking at a special event organized by the Pune Police Zone 5 on Monday (January 6), where seized valuables were returned to their rightful owners. This initiative aims to streamline the process for victims to recover stolen items without incurring additional legal expenses or court visits.

During the event, Commissioner Kumar emphasized the importance of addressing citizens' emotional and financial burdens associated with stolen items. “When items like women’s mangalsutras or individuals’ vehicles are stolen, it causes significant distress. Victims often spend time and money navigating legal procedures. To ease this process, we have taken proactive steps to return their belongings,” he said.

At the event, valuables worth over ₹2 crore were handed back to 80 complainants. Additionally, the Commissioner directed the police to take action on unclaimed vehicles and locate their owners. He also instructed officers to work on returning other unclaimed valuables found during investigations. Kumar assured that similar efforts would soon be extended to other police zones.

He further acknowledged the vital role of the public in maintaining law and order. Referring to the Bopdev Ghat case, he said, “With the support of the local police and citizens, the culprits were caught. Citizens are an extension of the police force, with the same responsibility and authority as us."
