Pune Police Conduct Riot-Control Drill Ahead of Festive Season

Training held at Warje flyover to ensure crowd safety during Ganeshotsav, Navratri, and Eid

Pune, 27 August 2025: The Warje Malwadi Police carried out a riot-control drill at the Warje flyover area to prepare for the upcoming festive season, which will see large gatherings during Ganeshotsav, Navratri, and Eid. The exercise aimed to ensure public safety and prevent untoward incidents.

During the drill, police practiced baton drills, shield formations, and crowd-dispersal methods. They simulated situations such as moving through narrow lanes, controlling rallies, and maintaining order during processions. Teams of officers worked in groups, creating real-life scenarios under the guidance of senior officials.

Despite heavy rain, the drill attracted local residents, who watched and praised the preparedness of the police force. Officers including Senior Inspector Vishwajit Kaingade, Crime Inspector Nilesh Badakh, and Assistant Inspector Ranjit Mohite supervised the exercise and reviewed each step carefully.

The police said the main purpose of the drill was to prepare the force to respond swiftly, maintain discipline, and prioritize citizens’ safety in unexpected situations. The exercise not only strengthened police readiness but also reassured the public of their security during the upcoming festive season.
