As Pune prepares to kick off the Ganeshotsav celebrations on the 7th, the city is gearing up to manage the influx of visitors from across the country.

With large crowds expected, Pune's Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has issued strict orders to take immediate action against anyone found harassing women during the festivities.

The safety of women will be given the highest priority. A large police presence will be deployed in the central areas to prevent crimes such as theft of women's jewelry and mobile phones.

If any complaint of harassment is received, the police will immediately apprehend the culprits and display their photographs in public squares.

Additionally, a public shaming march will be conducted for those who harass women, as warned by Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.

Teams of female police officers, as well as the Damini Squad, will patrol the crowds. Plainclothes police teams will also monitor the central areas.

If anyone is found harassing women or engaging in obscene acts, their photographs will be taken. The name, address, and photograph of the perpetrator will be displayed on public boards.

Such boards will be placed in various squares by the police, and a public shaming march for these "Road Romeos" will be organized by the police.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has also laid out comprehensive plans to maintain cleanliness across the city. PMC Additional Commissioner Prithviraj B.P. and Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kadam instructed officials from the 15 regional offices to ensure that the city is cleaned thoroughly in three shifts throughout the festival period.
