Pune Pub Booked for Selling Liquor on Dry Day After Midnight

Police catch Kalyaninagar’s Ballr Pub serving alcohol past midnight on Independence Day

Pune, 15 August 2025: On the night of August 15, Pune Police booked a pub in Kalyaninagar for serving alcohol during a "Dry Day." Despite the nationwide ban on liquor sales for Independence Day, the Ballr Pub was found operating after midnight.

According to Yerawada Police, around 12:30 am, the control room received a call about liquor sales at the pub. Acting on the information, a night patrol team visited the spot and found the bar still serving drinks at 1:10 am.

The pub’s manager, identified as Raymond D’Souza, has been booked under IPC sections 223 and 293 along with relevant provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act. Yerawada Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke confirmed that further investigation is underway.
