Chakan: 69.6 mm
Magarpatta: 54.5 mm
Nigdi: 53 mm
Other significant rainfall was reported in Dudulgaon (68 mm), Kondhwa, and along the Pune-Nashik Highway, with widespread waterlogging causing major inconvenience to residents and commuters.
The heavy downpour led to:

Traffic jams and slowdowns on key arterial roads, including the Pune-Nashik Highway.

Pune has officially recorded its wettest May since 2015, with cumulative rainfall reaching 116.8 mm between May 1 and 21—surpassing the previous record of 112.7 mm set a decade ago. This year’s pre-monsoon activity has already delivered more rainy days and higher rainfall totals than recent years, highlighting a shift in local weather patterns.
Experts attribute this unusual wet spell to:
Strong westerly winds and moisture-laden air from the Arabian Sea.
Upper-air cyclonic circulations over the Arabian Sea and north Karnataka-Goa coasts.
Favorable conditions for the early onset of the monsoon, with Kerala expected to see monsoon rains by May 24–25, the earliest in 15 years.
The IMD has issued a nowcast warning for Pune and neighboring districts, predicting further thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 km/h) over the next few days. Residents are urged to:
Stay indoors during thunderstorm activity.
Avoid sheltering under trees or near electric poles during rain.
Exercise caution while commuting, especially through waterlogged or low-lying areas.
With the IMD forecasting continued rainfall activity at least until May 25—and isolated heavy spells likely on May 23 and 24—authorities are on high alert. The city may be on track to set an all-time May rainfall record if the wet weather persists.
