Pune: A real estate agent was brutally murdered with machetes in broad daylight on Wednesday (November 27) afternoon in Kolhewadi, near Khadakwasla on Sinhagad Road.

The incident occurred around 4:15 PM when a group of four to five individuals attacked 38-year-old Satish Sudam Thopte on Kolhewadi Road near Sushila Park.

The attackers fled the scene immediately after the attack, and the police have initiated a search operation to apprehend them.

Satish Thopte, a resident of Sushila Park in Kolhewadi, was involved in the real estate business. He had a prior case registered against him for firing a gun in the Haveli Police Station jurisdiction.

On the day of the attack, Satish was standing near Sushila Park when he was assaulted with machetes.

Severely injured, he collapsed on the spot. Local residents rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where he was pronounced dead during treatment. Satish is survived by his wife, two daughters, and parents.

According to sources, the attack is suspected to have been motivated by a financial dispute.

One of the attackers reportedly took a ₹25 lakh loan under Satish’s name to purchase a flat but failed to repay the installments. Satish’s repeated phone calls demanding repayment allegedly angered the accused, who, along with accomplices, orchestrated the attack.

Haveli Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the attackers. Police teams are conducting search operations in and around the area.

The incident, occurring in a populated locality in broad daylight, has caused panic among residents of Kolhewadi, Khadakwasla, and Kirkatwadi.
