Pune Roads to Remain Closed for Ganesh Visarjan on Saturday

Police announce traffic curbs and no-parking zones across central areas

  1. Major traffic restrictions will be in place across Pune on Saturday for the Ganesh Visarjan processions.

  2. Central city roads including Laxmi Road, Tilak Road, Shivaji Road, JM Road, and Karve Road will remain closed for vehicles during the event.

  3. No-parking zones have also been declared on several stretches to ensure smooth processions and public safety.

Pune, 4th September 2025: Pune will witness widespread traffic restrictions this Saturday as the city prepares for the Ganesh Visarjan processions marking Anant Chaturdashi. The traffic police have announced that several central and arterial roads will remain closed for vehicles to ensure safety and smooth movement during the day-long event.

The processions, led by the city’s prominent Ganpati mandals, will begin around 9:30 am. From then until the end of the celebrations, most key roads in the central part of Pune will not be accessible to vehicular traffic.

Roads such as Laxmi Road, Tilak Road, Kelkar Road, Kumthekar Road, Shivaji Road, Bajirao Road, Shastri Road, JM Road, Karve Road, Ferguson Road, Pune–Satara Road, and Pune–Solapur Road will face restrictions at different times of the day.

To avoid congestion, the police have also declared no-parking zones along major stretches. These include Laxmi Road (from Sant Kabir Chowk to Alka Talkies Chowk), Kelkar Road (Buddhwar Chowk to Alka Talkies), Kumthekar Road (Shanipar Chowk to Alka Talkies), Tilak Road (Jedhe Chowk to Alka Talkies), Shastri Road (Senadatt Police Chowky to Alka Talkies), and Karve Road (Nal Stop to Khandoji Baba Chowk).

Authorities have appealed to citizens to cooperate with the arrangements and use alternative routes where possible. The traffic changes are aimed at easing the movement of the large processions and ensuring the safety of thousands of participants and onlookers across Pune.
