Pune: Seven New Police Stations Set to Open Tomorrow

Each new station will be equipped with a police inspector, assistant inspector, sub-inspector, assistant sub-inspector, constables, and other staff.

Pune City Police Commissionerate is expanding its network by adding seven new police stations, raising the total number of stations in the city from 32 to 39. The new police stations are being set up in Kalepadal, Ambegaon, Baner, Wagholi, Nanded City, Phursungi, and Kharadi.

The creation of these police stations follows the division of existing stations: Kalepadal has been formed by splitting Hadapsar, Wanawadi, and Kondhwa stations; Ambegaon from Bharati Vidyapeeth; Baner from Chatuhshrungi; Wagholi from Lonikand; Nanded City from Sinhagad Road; Phursungi from Lonikalbhor and Hadapsar; and Kharadi from Chandan Nagar and Lonikand.

Each new station will be equipped with a police inspector, assistant inspector, sub-inspector, assistant sub-inspector, constables, and other staff. The new infrastructure will enhance police coverage in these rapidly growing areas of Pune.

Major Projects Worth ₹720 Crore to Be Launched

In addition to the new police stations, Pune City Police will inaugurate projects worth ₹720 crore. This includes the installation of 2,886 CCTV cameras across the city, for which ₹433.44 crore has been allocated.

Furthermore, ₹193 crore has been sanctioned for a new building for the Police Commissioner’s office, and ₹29 crore has been approved for the construction of a new building for the Bund Garden police station.

The Home Department has approved 816 new positions for the seven new police stations.

These police stations will be officially inaugurated by Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar at the Shivajinagar Police Headquarters on Friday, October 11, at 2 p.m., according to Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.
