IMD Predicts Six Day of Rain in Pune; Heavy Showers Expected in Ghats

Cloudy skies and thunderstorms to continue till October 1; September 27–28 to bring intense downpours in Ghat areas.

Pune, 26 September 2025: Pune is expected to remain under cloudy skies with spells of rain and thunderstorms over the next six days, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The Ghat regions around the city are likely to see heavy to extremely heavy rainfall during this period.

Today, Pune will experience a generally cloudy sky with very light to light rain and occasional thunderstorms, while isolated areas in the Ghats may receive heavy showers. Light rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue on September 27, with the Ghat regions facing heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The IMD has issued a stronger alert for September 28, warning of light to moderate showers in Pune city and heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in the Ghats. Rainfall activity will persist on September 29 with light to moderate rain in the city and isolated heavy showers in the surrounding hilly areas.

For September 30 and October 1, the forecast indicates cloudy skies with chances of light to moderate rain. Officials have advised residents in the Ghat sections to remain cautious, especially on September 27 and 28, when intense downpours could cause waterlogging, low visibility, and traffic disruptions.
