Pune to Host First Rotary District Marathi Literary Conference

The two-day conference will be held at the Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha in Kothrud. Novelist Vishwas Patil will preside as the conference chair.

Pune: In celebration of Marathi being granted classical language status by the central government, the Rotary Club is organizing the inaugural Rotary District Marathi Literary Conference. The event, scheduled for January 4 and 5, aims to establish Marathi as a language of knowledge, preserve its rich reading culture, and promote its continual growth.

The two-day conference will be held at the Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha in Kothrud. Esteemed novelist Vishwas Patil will preside as the conference chairman, and Vinod Jadhav, director of Sava Healthcare, will act as the welcome chairman.

The event will feature a variety of programs, including an inaugural ceremony, valedictory session, literary discussions, panel discussions, interviews, informal conversations, poetry recitals, skits, musical performances, and a musical play.

The inaugural ceremony will take place on January 4 at 10 AM and will be officiated by former Indian cricket team captain Chandu Borde. Several prominent figures, including MP Dr. Medha Kulkarni, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Pune Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale, Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad Working President Prof. Milind Joshi, National Book Trust Trustee Rajesh Pandey, Jayant Bhave, Deputy District Governor Mohan Palesha, District Learning Trainer Pankaj Shah, Santosh Marathe, and Nitin Dhamale, will grace the occasion.

The conference promises a vibrant celebration of Marathi literature and culture, bringing together writers, poets, and enthusiasts to engage in meaningful discussions and creative expressions.
