Pune: Traffic Rule Violator Turns Out to Be Wanted Murder Accused from Sangli

The arrested individual has been identified as Ganesh Malekar, a resident of Sangli. He is an accused in the murder of Rohan Phalke, a case from Tasgaon area of Sangli.

Pune: In a remarkable turn of events, the Pune Traffic Police, while conducting routine checks against traffic violations, apprehended a fugitive accused in a murder case from Sangli district. The arrest was made in the Bibwewadi area during an operation targeting drivers violating traffic rules, particularly those traveling in the wrong direction.

The arrested individual has been identified as Ganesh Malekar, a resident of Sangli. He is an accused in the murder of Rohan Phalke, a case that occurred in the Tasgaon area of Sangli.

How the Arrest Unfolded

Traffic officers noticed a two-wheeler being ridden in the wrong direction with three individuals aboard. Upon spotting the officers, Malekar attempted to flee the scene. However, the traffic police chased him down and detained him.

During questioning, Malekar revealed his involvement in the murder of Rohan Phalke. He disclosed that he had sustained an injury to his leg during the altercation that led to the crime. After fleeing Sangli, Malekar arrived in Pune and sought assistance from a motorcyclist to avoid detection.

The operation was led by Assistant Police Inspector Prashant Khedkar, along with officers Swapnil Kadam and Sagar Shinde from the Sahakarnagar Traffic Division.

Their vigilance and swift action led to the apprehension of the fugitive, who has since been handed over to the Sahakarnagar Police for further investigation.
