Pune: Two people, including an elderly pedestrian, lost their lives in separate accidents in Pune over the weekend. One incident occurred on Hadapsar-Saswad Road, while the other took place on NIBM Road in Kondhwa. In a separate case, a tempo fell into a valley at Bopdev Ghat, injuring three people.
A 85-year-old pedestrian, Sindhubai Shripati Kshirsagar, was killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle in the Uruli Devachi area of Hadapsar-Saswad Road. Following the accident, the driver fled the scene, and the Fursungi police have registered a case against him. The accused has been identified as Manoj Ahire (22), a resident of Nimon, Nashik. The victim’s son, Santosh Shripati Kshirsagar (55), filed a complaint at Phursungi Police Station.
According to police, Sindhubai was walking along Hadapsar-Saswad Road on Saturday at around 5:30 PM when a speeding vehicle struck her, leading to her death. The driver did not stop at the accident site and fled. Police Sub-Inspector Mahesh Nalawade is leading the investigation.
Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run on NIBM Road
In another incident, a motorcyclist, Mazher Jilani Shaikh (34), was fatally hit by a speeding vehicle on NIBM Road, Kondhwa. The driver escaped without stopping, and a case has been registered at Kondhwa Police Station.
The victim’s brother, Azharuddin Shaikh (37), lodged a complaint. According to police reports, Mazher was riding his motorcycle around 5:00 AM on Saturday when he was hit by a speeding vehicle. The driver fled the scene, and Assistant Police Inspector Pravin Abdagire is handling the investigation.
Tempo Loses Control at Bopdev Ghat, Three Injured
On Sunday evening, a tempo lost control and fell into a valley at Bopdev Ghat on Kondhwa-Saswad Road, leaving three people injured. The victims have been identified as Noor Pasha Khaja Jamadar, Amol Adinath Chavan, and Shubham Chougule, all residents of Shaninagar, Katraj.
According to police reports, the tempo was traveling through Bopdev Ghat at around 5:30 PM on Sunday when it collided with a car. The driver lost control, causing the tempo to veer off the road and plunge into a valley. The tempo driver and passengers sustained injuries, while the car also suffered damage. A case has been registered at Kondhwa Police Station, and Assistant Police Inspector Sukeshini Jadhav is leading the investigation.
