Pune, 26 August 2025: Savitribai Phule Pune University has assured students that the results of the 40th State Eligibility Test (SET), conducted on June 15, will be declared by August 30. The written assurance came after a protest by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) outside the university’s SET office on Tuesday.

The delay had caused widespread frustration among candidates, as more than 90,000 students appeared for the exam. Passing the SET is mandatory to qualify for the post of assistant professor under University Grants Commission rules. Students argued that the delay was affecting their academic progress and future opportunities.

During the protest, ABVP’s West Maharashtra minister Atharva Kulkarni criticized the university administration, stating that students’ concerns were repeatedly ignored. He warned that the agitation would continue if the results were not released on time.

University Registrar Dr. Jyoti Bhakare and SET Director Kapadnis met the student leaders and assured them in writing that the results would be declared by August 30. This decision has brought relief to thousands of candidates waiting for the outcome.
