Pune: Pune city has been experiencing a drop in both minimum and maximum temperatures, leading to a noticeable chill during the nights and dense fog in the early mornings.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cold wave will persist for the next two days. From Friday, December 27, weather conditions are expected to change, with clear skies during the morning and cloudy weather in the afternoon.
Over the last three days, the cold had subsided, with minimum temperatures rising to 21°C and maximum temperatures reaching 28–30°C. However, on Wednesday, December 25, the minimum temperature in Shivajinagar was recorded 16.4°C. The maximum temperature has also been consistently decreasing, with a reduction of two degrees in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, parts of Maharashtra, including Pune, may experience unseasonal rains from Friday. Thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate rain are likely over Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Madhya Maharashtra on December 27, 28, and 29.
The IMD has issued a 'Yellow Alert' for Vidarbha districts such as Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Wardha, Washim, and Gondia, warning of thunder, lightning, and rainfall.
