Pune: In a shocking case of fraud and deception, a 34-year-old woman from Pune’s Sinhagad Road area was defrauded of ₹32.72 lakh by three individuals residing in her housing society.

One of the accused also established a physical relationship with the woman under the false promise of marriage.

The incidents occurred over a span of two years, between April 2022 and October 2024. Based on the woman’s complaint, the Sinhagad Road Police Station has registered a case against the three accused.

As per the police, one of the accused gained the victim’s trust by promising marriage and later coerced her into a physical relationship. The trio further convinced the woman to invest ₹32.72 lakh in cash and online transactions for a purported business venture.

Despite receiving the money, the accused failed to initiate any business, leaving the woman financially and emotionally devastated. When the victim demanded a refund of her money, the accused allegedly resorted to threats and even assaulted her daughter, warning her against pursuing the matter.

Assistant Police Inspector S.S. Chavan, who is leading the investigation, confirmed that a case has been registered, and efforts are underway to apprehend the accused.
