Pune: Woman Hits Husband With Rolling Pin Over Refusal to Eat Soaked Chickpeas

Pune, 3rd December 2024: In two separate domestic violence incidents reported on Sunday (December 1), one involving a dispute over soaked chickpeas and the other over financial matters, police have registered cases against the individuals accused of assaulting their spouses.

A peculiar incident unfolded in Somwar Peth, where a wife reportedly assaulted her husband because he refused to eat the soaked chickpeas she had prepared. According to the complaint filed at the Samarth Police Station, the couple argued when the husband refused the meal.

The dispute escalated when the wife allegedly struck her husband with a rolling pin and later hit him on the head with a mixer jar.

When the husband raised his hands to protect himself, she bit his finger, severely injuring it by breaking the nail. The husband, who sustained injuries during the altercation, sought help from the police.

Senior Inspector Umesh Gitte confirmed that the 40-year-old woman has been charged with causing grievous hurt, and investigations are ongoing under the supervision of Constable Parit.

In the second case reported in the Uttam Nagar area, a rickshaw driver allegedly assaulted his wife for paying the rickshaw’s loan installment without informing him. The couple resides in the Paigude Chawl locality.

The husband reportedly confronted his 32-year-old wife, accusing her of making the payment without consulting him. During the argument, he verbally abused her and allegedly kicked her in the stomach. The woman subsequently lodged a complaint at the Uttam Nagar Police Station.

Police have registered a case against the husband for physical assault, and further investigations are underway.
