Pune: A distressing incident of molestation was reported on Friday (December 6) evening near the Kumar Pacific Mall bus stop on Shankar Sheth Road.

A man allegedly molested a 19-year-old woman on a crowded bus and made obscene remarks. Despite the presence of several passengers, no one intervened, leaving the victim and her friends to confront the accused.

The incident occurred around 6 PM when the complainant and her friends boarded a bus from the Kumar Pacific Mall bus stop in the Swargate area.

During the journey, the accused, identified as Tushar Sudhir Khatmode (34), a resident of Narayan Peth, allegedly touched the complainant inappropriately.

When the victim protested, none of the male passengers on the bus intervened. However, her three friends took a stand against the accused. In the confrontation, one of the women snatched his ID card. Overwhelmed by the resistance, the accused fled the scene.

The group of friends called the number listed on the accused’s ID card. During the call, he reportedly made obscene comments and threatened the complainant, warning her not to file a police complaint.

The complainant subsequently filed a report at the Khadak Police Station. Based on the details provided, the police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the law. Sub-Inspector Akash Vite is leading the investigation.
