Pune: A young woman’s decision to focus on her exam preparations instead of meeting or talking to her boyfriend led to threats, abduction, and assault.
The accused, Prajwal Kailas Mohite (27), a resident of Mohitewadi, Shel Pimpalgaon, Chakan, allegedly threatened to leak her intimate videos, abducted her, and physically assaulted her. The Hadapsar police arrested him late on Sunday (March 9).
According to the police, the 26-year-old complainant, originally from Nashik, is currently staying in Manjari, Pune, for her studies. She has been in a relationship with Prajwal Mohite since 2021. As her exams approached, she prioritized her studies and avoided meeting or speaking with Mohite. Upset by her behavior, Mohite allegedly threatened her over the phone, warning that he would leak obscene videos of her.
On Sunday at around 1:30 PM, Mohite showed up at her residence, initiated an argument, and physically assaulted her. He allegedly pulled her hair, slapped her, and verbally abused her before forcibly pushing her into his Mahindra Thar and instructing the driver to head towards Chakan.
During the journey, Mohite reportedly picked up a sharp-edged broken plastic strip from the vehicle and injured the woman on her shoulders, arms, wrists, calves, and thighs. He also punched her on the head, causing further injuries, and threatened to kill her.
Later, their argument de-escalated, and Mohite took her to Shwas Hospital in Chakan for treatment. However, upon returning to Pune late at night, the woman immediately approached the police and lodged a complaint. Following her complaint, Hadapsar police swiftly arrested Prajwal Mohite. Assistant Police Inspector Gend is currently investigating the case.
