Pune: The age-old craft of metalworking by the Tambat community will take center stage at ‘Warsa Darshan’ (Heritage Walk), scheduled for Sunday, March 9, in Kasba Peth’s historic Tambat Ali.
This event aims to showcase the legacy of copper and brass craftsmanship, an art form preserved for hundreds of years in Pune. Visitors will get an exclusive glimpse into the process of making copper and brass utensils, the meticulous craftsmanship involved, and how the trade has evolved over time.
An Exclusive Look into Traditional Craftsmanship
The heritage walk will feature live demonstrations by skilled artisans, allowing attendees to observe how traditional utensils are shaped, hammered, and polished. The event will also highlight technological advancements in the craft while preserving its authentic heritage.
One of the key attractions of the event is the ‘Anandi Sansar’ museum, curated by Girish Potphode. This museum showcases a unique collection of 1,000 rare artifacts crafted from copper, brass, and silver, offering visitors an opportunity to admire the historical significance of these handcrafted items.
Additionally, visitors will have the chance to purchase authentic, handcrafted copper and brass utensils at special discounted prices from the Tambat community artisans.
The event is a collaborative effort by ‘Sakal,’ ‘Itihaas Premi Mandal,’ and ‘Lokmanya Cultural Foundation,’ with support from the Twashta Kasar Samaj Copper-Brass Utensil Manufacturers Association.
