Pune: Three men were brutally attacked with iron rods and wooden sticks by a gang of nine individuals in Uruli Kanchan. The attack is believed to be retaliation for a police complaint filed by one of the victims.
The injured victims, identified as Avesh Malik, Babu Malik, and Anis Malik, all residents of Samata Nagar, Kadamwakvasti, were rushed to the hospital with severe injuries.
The incident occurred on Friday, February 21, around 7:30 PM, at Gulista Bakery in Kadamwakvasti. Avesh Malik, who was working at the bakery, was accompanied by Babu Malik, Vakil Malik, and Anis Malik, when nine men arrived on three motorcycles. Among them were Aqib and Adil Ansari, while the rest had their faces covered with handkerchiefs.
As soon as they arrived, the assailants began smashing the bakery's glass windows. When Avesh resisted, Aqib verbally abused him and attempted to attack him with a sharp weapon, saying, "How dare you file a complaint against me? I will finish you today!"
Though Avesh dodged the attack, he was injured near his right ear. Meanwhile, Babu Malik and Anis Malik were assaulted with iron rods and wooden sticks, leaving them with head injuries.
The attack is believed to be a result of an earlier altercation on February 20. On that evening, Aqib and Adil Ansari visited the bakery to buy a ₹10 Cadbury chocolate. Instead of paying ₹10, Adil insisted on sending ₹100 via Google Pay and demanded ₹90 in cash as change.
When Avesh refused, Adil became angry, slapped Avesh, and hurled abuses at him. This led to Avesh filing a non-cognizable complaint at Loni Kalbhor Police Station, following which the police took preventive action against Aqib and Adil Ansari.
A case has been registered against Aqib Iqbal Ansari, Adil Iqbal Ansari, and 6-7 other unidentified accomplices at Loni Kalbhor Police Station.
