Pune: A 15-year-old schoolgirl was harassed by a rickshaw driver while she was on her way to school. The driver, Faizal Wahab Ansari, has been arrested by the Hadapsar police after the girl and her family lodged a formal complaint.

The incident took place on Monday, September 23, at around 11:30 a.m., when the girl, accompanied by her friends, was heading to school through the Sasane Nagar area.

According to police reports, Ansari began following the group of girls, and at one point, he threw a piece of paper in front of the 15-year-old. The note contained his phone number, along with a request for her to contact him, leaving the girl shocked and frightened.

Disturbed by the encounter, the girl immediately informed her family about the harassment. Understanding the severity of the situation, her parents took swift action and approached the Hadapsar police station to file a complaint. The police launched an investigation into the matter, leading to Ansari's arrest later that day.

Assistant Police Inspector Praveen Abdagire is overseeing the investigation. Stalking and harassment, especially involving minors, are taken very seriously by the authorities.

Pune Police encourage anyone facing such harassment to report it immediately, so that they can take the necessary legal action and ensure the safety of citizens.

Recently, another autorickshaw driver had allegedly harassed a 14-year-old girl in the Janata Vasahat area of Parvati locality in Pune.

According to the police, the incident began when the girl, who was returning home from school, noticed the rickshaw driver making inappropriate advances towards her by staring through the rearview mirror.
