Pune: A family was brutally attacked in Pune's Mundhwa area following a traffic dispute caused by honking. The attackers, identified as Raju Gaikwad and his son Shubham Gaikwad, used knuckle punch to assault the family, injuring all three members.

The incident occurred on the Mundhwa-Koregaon Park Road around 9 PM on Thursday (January 9), leaving Pune’s residents alarmed about safety during such altercations.

Complainant Rajesh Waghchaure, accompanied by his wife Suvarna and daughter Sanskruti, was traveling toward Koregaon Park when they encountered a traffic jam. To alert the vehicle ahead, Waghchaure honked.

The occupants of the car, Raju and Shubham Gaikwad, reportedly took offense, exited their vehicle, and started a verbal altercation. The dispute quickly turned violent when they used a knuckle punch to attack Rajesh. In the process, Suvarna and Sanskruti were also injured.

The Gaikwads didn’t stop at physical assault—they also vandalized the family’s car. Although local residents attempted to intervene, the attackers ignored their efforts, continuing their aggression.

Mundhwa police were alerted and immediately reached the scene. They apprehended Raju and Shubham Gaikwad, filing charges against them. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused have a prior history of criminal behavior.

Police presence on the Mundhwa-Koregaon Park Road has been increased to prevent further incidents. Citizens have been urged to report disputes promptly and cooperate with the police to ensure public safety.
