Pune: In response to the rising number of accidents and illnesses that result in individuals losing their limbs, the Rotary Club of Pune Sahawas and the Bharat Vikas Parishad Disability Rehabilitation Center have announced a special initiative to distribute advanced modular artificial limbs.

This program aims to empower disabled individuals to regain their independence and improve their quality of life.

Nivedita Mulay, President of Rotary Sahawas, shared details of the initiative during a recent event.

Also present were key representatives, including Vinay Khatavkar, Head of the Bharat Vikas Parishad Disability Rehabilitation Center, Datta Chitale, President of Navbharat Vikas Foundation, Mahendra Chitte, Medical Director of Rotary Sahawas, and Sameer Kulkarni, CSR Director.

Vinay Khatavkar highlighted the benefits of the modern modular limb, explaining that it is lightweight and auto-foldable, allowing individuals with disabilities to perform daily tasks more easily.

"We have already registered 80 people in Pune for this initiative. Even if the registrations exceed 150, we will ensure that all participants receive their custom-made artificial limbs," Khatavkar stated.

He added that the limbs would be specifically crafted based on individual measurements, and pre-registration is mandatory for participation in the program.

Those who do not register in advance may face a brief waiting period. The registration process is open until October 20 at the center located at the Tharkude Clinic premises near Nal Stop.
