RTE Admissions 2025-26: Maharashtra Opens Online Applications for Reserved Seats

The process opens on January 14 and will remain active until January 27. Parents can access https://student.maharashtra.gov.in/adm_portal to submit applications for their children.

Pune: The Maharashtra government has announced the commencement of the online application process for admissions to 25% reserved seats in private schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for the academic year 2025-26. The process, which opens on January 14, will remain active until January 27. Parents can access the portal https://student.maharashtra.gov.in/adm_portal to submit applications for their children.

Eligibility and Reservation Details

As per the RTE Act, 2009, Section 12(C)(1), 25% of seats in self-financed, unaided schools, police welfare schools (unaided), and municipal self-financed schools are reserved for students from economically weaker and disadvantaged groups.

Admission Process

  • Single Phase Lottery: Once applications are submitted, a single-phase lottery will be conducted.

  • Waiting List: A waiting list will be prepared equal to the number of available seats.

  • Admission Timeline: Selected students will be provided sufficient time for admission, and subsequent admissions from the waiting list will follow in phases if required.

Important Instructions for Parents

  • Income Criteria: The annual family income should not exceed ₹1 lakh.

  • School Selection: Parents are advised to carefully select 10 schools for the application.

  • Distance Verification: Ensure the distance from home to school is calculated using Google Maps.

  • Support Centers: For any issues, parents can contact help centers listed on the RTE portal.

  • Accuracy in Applications: Parents must ensure all information entered is correct and supported by valid documentation.

  • Proof of Residence

  • Proof of Date of Birth

  • Caste Certificate

  • Income Certificate (for economically weaker sections)

  • Other relevant documents

Warning Against False Information

The Director of Primary Education, Sharad Gosavi, has issued a strict warning. If a student is admitted based on false or misleading information, the admission will be canceled at any stage. This measure ensures fairness and prevents misuse of the reserved seats.
