Pune: Disappointed by the lack of representation in the Kasba Peth Assembly by-election two and a half years ago, the Brahmin community has now pledged its support to the Mahayuti (grand alliance) in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly election.

This decision comes after the Mahayuti alliance parties, including the BJP, Shiv Sena, and Nationalist Congress Party, agreed to offer candidacies to members of the Brahmin community.

Bhalchandra Kulkarni, chief coordinator for Brahmin organizations, along with fellow coordinators Chaitanya Joshi and Mayuresh Argade, disclosed that Brahmin representatives had met with leaders from various political parties, including the Mahayuti alliance, to advocate for increased representation of Brahmin candidates in constituencies across the state.

In response to this formal appeal, the BJP and Mahayuti gave a positive commitment, securing the Brahmin community’s endorsement.

The Mahayuti alliance has nominated several candidates from the Brahmin community for the Assembly election.

Among them are Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis from Nagpur, Sanjay Kelkar from Thane, Atul Bhatkhalkar from Kandivali, Parag Alavani from Vile Parle, Rajan Naik from Nalasopara, Sudhir Gadgil from Sangli, Uday Samant from Ratnagiri, and Kiran Samant from Rajapur.

Additionally, the BJP has appointed Rajesh Pandey as General Secretary and has awarded a Rajya Sabha seat to former Kothrud MLA Prof. Medha Kulkarni.

Acknowledging this favorable stance, Bhalchandra Kulkarni confirmed the Brahmin community’s unified support for the Mahayuti alliance in the Assembly elections.
