"Sar Tan Se Juda" Slogans in Pune, Case Filed Against 300 Protestors

Police have stated that the slogans chanted during the protest created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity, disturbing public peace.

Pune: "Sar Tan Se Juda" slogans were raised in Pune during a protest organized by group of protestors from Muslim community outside the Pune District Collector office. The protestors also sloganeered in support of tyrant Tipu Sultan, also known as 'Aurangzeb of South'.

The protestors had gathered outside the Pune District Collector Office in Bund Garden area to protest against Sahadev Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj, from Sadguru Shri Gangagiri Maharaj Sansthan, Sarala Bet, Taluka Shrirampur, District Ahmednagar, who allegedly had made indirect remarks on Prophet Mohammad.

However, the protest took a controversial turn when some participants chanted provocative slogans, including "Sar Tan Se Juda" and slogans in support of Tipu Sultan. A video of the incident has surfaced, prompting police action.

Following the incident in Pune, the police have registered a case against 200 to 300 individuals under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023.

The charges include unlawful assembly, organizing a march without permission, and participating in the march illegally. The police have stated that the slogans chanted during the protest created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity, disturbing public peace.

Earlier, Advocate Tausif Sheikh, an office-bearer of the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshiram), had filed a complaint on August 17 against Ramgiri Maharaj for his alleged remarks on Prophet Mohammad. Advocate Sheikh (32) is a resident of NIBM Road, Kondhwa in Pune. The case has been registered at Kondhwa police station.

Another FIR was registered against Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj on Tuesday (August 20) night at Khadak police based on a complaint filed by Shoib Ismail Shaikh (62), a resident of Ghorpade Peth, who is a local leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.
