Pune: The Sarhad organization has submitted a proposal to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), expressing its interest in adopting select Marathi schools and implementing initiatives focused on Marathi language and literature in 98 PMC-run schools. Sanjay Nahar, President of Sarhad, has formally presented this proposal to PMC Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale.
Proposed Initiatives for Marathi Schools
Sarhad, known for its active contributions to Marathi literary and cultural development, had successfully organized the 98th All India Marathi Literary Conference in New Delhi this year.
Building on this, the organization now seeks to enhance the quality of education in 98 PMC-run Marathi schools through dedicated initiatives. The primary objective of these efforts is to increase students’ interest in Marathi language and literature while improving overall academic engagement.
Plan for School Adoption and Support
Beyond conducting academic programs, Sarhad has also expressed its willingness to adopt some of these Marathi schools.
As part of this adoption plan, the organization has committed to:
Providing educational support, including teaching materials and innovative learning programs.
Deploying experienced teachers and staff to enhance the learning environment.
Arranging financial aid through donors or government assistance to ensure sustainable development.
This initiative, if approved by the PMC, is expected to strengthen Marathi education and cultural engagement among students in municipal schools.
