Pune: With the last day for filing assembly election nominations, the Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi alliances are facing widespread rebellions across most constituencies in Pune, Pune District, and Pimpri Chinchwad, leaving only Baramati and Wadgaon Sheri unaffected by internal conflicts.

Persistent issues over seat allocations within the alliances have led to members from Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party, and Congress filing independent nominations in defiance of party decisions.

While the Mahayuti comprises BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, the Maha Vikas Aghadi includes Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar). The disagreements have fueled internal divides, prompting local leaders to act independently and create a political stir.

In Pune, Congress has seen the highest number of independent candidates, with significant figures like former mayors Kamal Vyawahare and Aaba Bagul entering the race outside official party nominations.

Rebellion has also surfaced within BJP and Shiv Sena factions in other constituencies, causing complex challenges for party leaders.

Similar unrest has gripped Pune District, with rebel candidates contesting from key constituencies like Maval, Bhor, Junnar, and Shirur. In Pimpri Chinchwad, both alliances face independent candidates, adding further pressure on leaders.

This surge in rebellion across party lines highlights the impact of unresolved seat-sharing tensions in the final run-up to the assembly elections.

Meanwhile, Maratha community activist Manoj Jarange Patil has made a decisive move by supporting Sachin Taware’s independent candidacy in Parvati assembly constituency for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Elections.

Taware, who filed his nomination accompanied by a strong gathering of supporters and the slogan “Ek Maratha, Lakh Maratha,” aims to represent Maratha community interests in Parvati under Jarange's guidance.
