Pune: In a late-night incident on October 22 on Shankarsheth Road, a four-wheeler overturned after hitting a broken road divider near Dhobi Ghat. The accident occurred between 12:00 to 12:15 AM, but fortunately, no one was injured.

The vehicle was carrying three passengers at the time of the accident. The damaged divider in the middle of the road is believed to be the main cause of the mishap.

Local residents report that this divider has been broken for quite some time, leading to multiple minor accidents, particularly during the night when visibility is low. Drivers often find themselves unintentionally driving onto the divider due to its poor condition and lack of visibility.

In addition to the damaged divider, the road itself is uneven and riddled with large potholes, especially during the monsoon season when heavy rains worsen the road’s condition.

Commuters and local residents have repeatedly complained to the Pune Cantonment Board about the poor state of the road, but these complaints have largely gone unaddressed, according to reports.

Local residents continue to express frustration over the neglect, citing safety concerns and calling for urgent road repairs to prevent further accidents.

Recently, in Bhosari, a 12-year-old boy lost his life after a minor, driving a three-wheeler tempo at high speed without a valid driving license, collided with the two-wheeler the boy was riding. The accident took place around 4:30 PM on Sunday (October 20) in front of the MIDC Bhosari Police Station.
