Shikrapur: Thar SUV Driver Threatens, Runs Over Police Constable’s Leg

Pune: A traffic police officer was injured in Shikrapur (Shirur Taluka, Pune District), when a Thar SUV driver allegedly drove over his leg after ignoring a stop signal.

The driver, identified as Kiran Jalindar Bavale, has been arrested, and the vehicle has been seized. The incident occurred in the Pabal Chowk area, where Constable Dnyaneshwar Sonawane was managing traffic.

Constable Sonawane narrowly avoided major harm by moving aside quickly, but the vehicle’s tire ran over his leg, causing injuries.

After the collision, the driver allegedly lowered his window and threatened the officer with death. Witnesses and nearby citizens, along with other police personnel, stopped the vehicle and detained the driver.

Following a complaint by Constable Sonawane, the Shikrapur Police registered a case against the driver. The SUV, with the registration number MH 14 LA 3131, was seized.

The accused, a 27-year-old resident of Wadgaon Ghenand, was arrested, and further investigation is underway under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Vijay Maskar.

A few days back, a woman police constable was seriously injured when a speeding car hit her at a checkpoint in the Mills area of Pune. The incident occurred at around 1 a.m.
