Pune: Overnight heavy rains has flooded five societies from the low-lying areas on Sinhagad Road. The affected societies include Ekta Nagari, Dwarka, Jalpujan, Sharda Sarovar, and Shyam Sundar. It is reported that 200 citizens were stuck due to sudden flooding of these societies.

Former Corporator Manjusha Deepak Nagpure released a video late night alleging that officials from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) were unresponsive to calls requesting for help to rescue the trapped citizens.

Citizens also alleged that the PMC administration failed to inform the citizens staying in these areas about the increased discharge of water from Khadakwasla dam leading to flooding of low-lying areas and riverbed areas.

Residents in these areas are advised to remain cautious and seek safe shelter as a precautionary measure.
