Pune: A gang of miscreants spread terror in the Panmala area of Sinhagad Road by brandishing machetes and smashing vehicle windows late on Tuesday (January 28) night. Several motorcycles, cars, and auto-rickshaws were damaged before the gang fled. A case has been registered against five to six unidentified individuals at Parvati Police Station.
According to police reports, the gang stormed Panmala, Dattawadi, and Janata Vasahat around midnight, hurling abuses and intimidating locals. Witnesses reported that the attackers used machetes to break the windows of parked vehicles, causing widespread panic among residents. The gang disappeared before police arrived.
After learning about the incident, top-ranking officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone-3 Sambhaji Kadam, DCP Crime Branch Nikhil Pingle, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ajay Parmar, and Senior Police Inspector Nandkumar Gaikwad, visited the crime scene to assess the damage.
Authorities have launched an investigation to track down the absconding culprits, with Assistant Police Inspector Gangadhar Ghavate leading the case.
A manhunt has been launched to identify and apprehend the suspects responsible for the attack. Local police have increased patrolling in the affected areas to prevent further incidents and assure residents of their safety. Police have urged anyone with information regarding the suspects to come forward to aid in the investigation.
