Pune: Trains on the Solapur-Daund railway route are set to operate at a speed of 130 km/h in the next 15 days, announced Central Railway General Manager Dharamveer Meena. This upgrade, following the successful implementation on the Pune-Daund section, aims to significantly reduce travel time on the Pune-Solapur route.

Over the past year, trains between Pune and Daund have been running at 130 km/h, enhancing travel efficiency. The Solapur division’s Daund-Solapur section has undergone extensive track and infrastructure upgrades, which are now nearing completion. General Manager Meena recently inspected the progress of these improvements.

Currently, trains on the Daund-Solapur route run at 110 km/h, resulting in longer travel times. The proposed speed enhancement will not only reduce travel time but also benefit passengers on Mail, Express, and DEMU services. With this upgrade, passengers can expect to travel from Pune to Solapur in just three to three-and-a-half hours.

The railway authorities believe that the new speed limits will offer a faster and more convenient journey for travelers, marking a significant improvement in the region’s rail connectivity.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, during the ongoing winter session of Parliament, announced significant developments for Maharashtra’s railway infrastructure.

A comprehensive master plan has been prepared for the Pune-Daund railway corridor, focusing on key upgrades, including the development of Shivajinagar and Uruli Kanchan as terminal hubs.
