Southern Command to Host ‘Know Your Army Mela’ Ahead of Army Day Parade 2025

Event is open to public and aims to create a deeper connection between citizens and Indian Army by offering insights into its legacy, life, and technological achievements.

Pune: In a historic first, the Southern Command of the Indian Army is bringing the prestigious Army Day Parade 2025 to Pune on 15 January 2025. As part of the celebrations, the ‘Know Your Army Mela 2025’ will be organized from 3 to 5 January 2025 at the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) in Pune.

This event is open to the public and aims to create a deeper connection between citizens and the Indian Army by offering insights into its legacy, life, and technological achievements.

Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Army Commander, Southern Command, will inaugurate the event on 3 January 2025. The three-day mela promises an engaging experience with highlights including:

  • Weapon and Equipment Display: Showcasing cutting-edge weaponry, vehicles, and systems, including T-90 Bhishma tanks, K9-Vajra artillery guns, Smerch and Pinaka rocket systems, and other indigenous equipment developed under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

  • Cultural Performances: Featuring traditional dances, military band shows, martial arts displays such as Gatka, Kalaripayattu, Khukri Dance, and a breathtaking fly-past by Army aviation helicopters.

  • Interactive Zones: Career stalls encouraging youth to explore opportunities in the Indian Army.

  • Photo Exhibition: Chronicling the Indian Army's history, valour, and sacrifices.

The event, aligned with the Army Day 2025 theme, “Samarth Bharat - Saksham Sena”, is a tribute to the Army's valour and a platform to inspire youth to join the Armed Forces. Open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, the mela is free for all visitors.

Distinguished personalities, senior military officials, and state government dignitaries will grace the event, further enhancing its significance and grandeur.
